Accessibility at Yoti – Age Verification
This accessibility statement applies to the Yoti Age Verification Service, accessed from a web browser.
Our accessibility goals
- Follow Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level A and Level AA for our Age Verification Service;
- Work with external companies for independent reviews and user testing of our solutions;
- Engage with people with a range of disabilities, understand their requirements and incorporate them into our scoping and planning.
Using Yoti’s Age Service
Yoti’s Age Verification Service spans 12 approaches. It offers our clients a range of age assurance approaches, so they in turn can provide choice to consumers, so that as many people as possible are able to prove their age.
For example, that means a platform should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts to meet its own brand guidelines
- zoom in up to 200% without the text spilling off the screen or overlapping.
And consumers
- can navigate most of our solutions using just a keyboard.
- can navigate most of the Yoti Age Verification Service using speech recognition software.
- Can listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver).
Where possible, we have also made the text as simple as possible to understand.
How accessible are our solutions?
We know some parts of our solutions are not fully accessible:
- Taking a selfie (a photo of your face) as part of the facial age estimation process – a user who is unable to do this may need assistance.
- Taking a photo of an ID Document – a user who is unable to do this may need assistance.
- Scanning a QR code – a user who is unable to do this may need assistance
- Some tutorial videos on our solutions do not have audio descriptions.
More information on areas of our Age Verification Service that are not accessible are listed below in the Non Accessible Content section.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility
Yoti started its accessibility journey in 2018 and since then we’ve invested significant time and effort towards making our solutions as accessible as possible. “Make Yoti available to All” is a core principle of the company, and in 2021 we enlisted the help of an independent company, Digital Accessibility Centre, and our products are annually assessed by them for inclusive design against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines from W3C Schools. Making accessible products is a goal that has no fixed end point: we are mindful that there is always ‘more to be done’. We have embedded inclusive design principles into the culture of our product, design and marketing teams. We’ve embedded checkpoints into our design and development flows to consider and review accessibility at every stage of the product development lifecycle.

Our Age Verification Service was last tested in March 2023. The test was carried out by both Digital Accessibility Centre and the internal Yoti QA team. The next independent review will be performed again by the Digital Accessibility Centre.
